COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Zyderrious Platt of Columbus, Georgia was in court on Tuesday for allegedly murdering his wife, Jilani Platt. But before the trial could get started, the victim's brother, in an emotional outburst, attacked the murder suspect and caused quite a scene.
Moments after sheriff's deputies brought Platt into the courtroom, Jilani Platt's brother jumped over the barrier, picked up a chair and threw it at the murder suspect.
He then started swinging and yelling until deputies wrestled him to the ground.
Judge Bobby Peters cleared the courtroom, while Jilani's brother was handcuffed and Platt was escorted out.
Jilani Platt, a 26-year-old mother-to-be, was killed in October 2009. Her body was found in a drainage pipe of Schataulga Road. The coroner said she died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Zyderious Platt was one of the family members who reported her missing on Sunday, but was later arrested for having a gun and being a convicted felon. Platt faces several counts of murder and feticide.
