COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Peak flu season is right around the corner, and the state health department wants to make sure it's prepared.
It held a mass vaccination exercise Saturday at the State Fairgrounds. Volunteers who showed up got "drive thru flu shots" for free.
The event was held to prepare staff for a possible pandemic."January and February is when we see a spike, a rise in flu cases," said Suzanne Sanders of Richland Health, "So if people haven't already gotten their shot, now is a real good time to get it to prevent getting sick."
More than 100 people showed up to the event.
