Midlands church packed 50,000 meals to stop hunger

FOREST ACRES, SC (WIS) - A Midlands church is giving back in a big way.

Members of Saint Marin's in the Fields Episcopal Church packed up thousands of meals Saturday as part of the Stop Hunger Now campaign. They pledged to package over 50,000 meals.

The food will be shipped overseas to help those in need, but people here in the Midlands are getting plenty out of it too. "For us here, it's a way to get ourselves into doing something that we can touch and feel as though were touching people across the world," said volunteer Sally Johnston.

The group said their goal was to plant a seed in the community and help establish similar packing events, like this one, with other churches and non-profit organizations in the future.
