COLUMBIA, SC (WIS0 - The Colonial Life Arena will be the site of a big basketball game between USC and the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday.

The Gamecocks hope a packed house can help them upset Kentucky for the second straight year. It could be the first sellout this season for the USC basketball team. USC Ticket Manager Lance Grantham said only about 900 to 1,000 tickets remain for Saturday's game against 12th ranked Kentucky.

Attendance has been picking up now that the holiday break is over and the students are back on campus. So just how many points is the crowd worth to Head Coach Darrin Horn's team?

"I don't really know if it's worth a certain number of points, but I do know that atmosphere matters," said Horn, "It does, and our atmosphere is tremendous. Our students are phenomenal, and if nothing else, I think it's more fun for everybody. I think the fans watching it, the people on TV, the players, everybody involved, it's make makes SEC basketball and athletics fun. So, the crowd does have a big part of that."

USC Football Coach Steve Spurrier is even urging fans to show up for the basketball game. Spurrier and his coaches will be at the game with some recruits. Plus, Spurrier and some of his guys plan to take to the court at halftime.
