COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina Red Cross desperately needs your blood.
Staff said the winter weather caused a huge blood shortage in the region. Last week's snow forced them to cancel 21 blood drives. It meant they missed out on about 800 pints of blood. "We really, really need people to get out and donate as soon as they can and help us replenish this blood supply," stated Communications Manager Jamie Muldrow, "We need to get the blood on the shelves for those hospital patients who are counting on it to make a recovery."
If you would like to donate, you can call 1-800-Red Cross or you can go to one of the blood drives scheduled for this week. There's one in Lexington on Thursday. It's being held from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the sheriff's department.
