COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Many people do use extra heating sources during the winter, such as kerosene and space heaters.
If you choose to use supplemental heat, Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins said do so cautiously. "You don't want to have them too close to anything that can burn," he explained, "You want to have them at least three feet away from anything that burns. So it's just all in how you use your heater."
