More than 2,000 celebrate Haley's inauguration at gala

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Gov. Nikki Haley says the more than 2,000 people who attended her inauguration have inspired her to get to work quickly.

But the Republican governor sworn in earlier Wednesday told attendees at the 95th inaugural ball Wednesday night that the gala was all about having fun.

Haley and her husband Michael then danced to "She's a Lady," on a black-and-white checkered dance floor.

The state's first female governor was dressed in a midnight blue, one-shoulder taffeta gown.

The inaugural was held at Columbia's Colonial Life Arena. The floor of the arena was transformed into a giant tent. Centerpieces of white carnations decorated blue tablecloths.

Food at the $250-per-couple ball included fried oysters, shrimp, scallops, and barbecue sandwiches.
