SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Guns, drugs, and cash are found after two separate traffic stops in Sumter County Thursday.

The first occurred around 8:30am on Interstate 95 near US 378.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis said deputies stopped 26-year-old Nicholas Golden and his brother, 28-year-old Larry Golden Jr. after Nicholas failed to use his turn signal while merging. During the stop, deputies reported they noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the car. After searching the car, Sheriff Dennis indicated they found 217 grams of marijuana, almost 13 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a .22-caliber handgun, a .25-caliber handgun, a .35-caliber rifle, almost 300 prescription pills, and more than $1,300 in cash.

Nicholas and Larry face six charges, ranging from drug distribution to possession of a weapon during a violent crime. They are being held in the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.

A second traffic stop just before 7:00pm Thursday led to a suspect being chased and tasered. Sheriff Dennis indicated deputies spotted 24-year-old Howard Logan, who failed to use his turn signal when turning from Weatherly Road onto McArthur Drive, and tried to stop him. They indicated Logan fled on foot with a backpack but was caught a short time later and tasered after trying to grab the deputy's taser. Sheriff Dennis said deputies found $13,000 worth of marijuana, 40 grams of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia in the book bag. They also seized about $870 in cash.

Logan faces a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
