Outgoing Superintendent of Education talks about challenges new administration faces

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Everybody says education is important, but what is being done to fix it?

WIS' Judi Gatson spoke with outgoing Superintendent of Education Jim Rex about the issue.

He talked about his biggest accomplishments and the major priority on his list that he was not able to get done. Rex was also asked about the biggest challenge facing the new administration. "It'll start with resources," stated Rex "We've lost $730 million out of the education budget in the last two years. We know there's going to be additional cuts forthcoming"

To hear what Dr. Rex said about the likelihood of more teachers losing their jobs and what the new administration needs to do immediately to fix a broken system, tune into WIS News 10 Monday for the complete interview.
