Lake Murray Dam's warning sirens to be tested

CAYCE, SC (WIS) - Don't be concerned if you hear a loud noise near Lake Murray Dam next Tuesday, January 11th around noon. SCE&G will be conducting a test of the dam's siren warning systems along the lower Saluda River.

The sirens will be heard for three minutes.

It's part of the dam's emergency action plan that takes place on the second Tuesday of every January.

The sirens will continue to have tests throughout the year to make sure they continue to function. Those will happen at noon on the second Tuesday of every month for the rest of the year.

The sirens are used to alert the public if the Lake Murray Dam fails.

If you have any further questions about the testing, you're asked to visit SCE&G's online.
