$1 million Mega Millions ticket sold in SC

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) – A Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was purchased at a gas station on Folly Beach.

The ticket sold in Folly Beach matched all five white ball numbers drawn Tuesday night. The ticket holder purchased the Megaplier for an extra $1, to multiply the $250,000 Match 5 prize to $1 million.

The ticket was purchased from the Kangaroo Express located at 42 Center Street in Folly Beach. The winning Mega Millions numbers are 4, 8, 15, 25 and 47. Megaball: 42; Megaplier: 4.

The South Carolina Education Lottery says that there were more than 59,600 winners of prizes from $2 up to $1 million.

A second ticket matched all five white ball numbers, and was worth $250,000. The ticket was sold at the Lowry Food Mart in Seneca. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

Two jackpot-winning tickets sold in Idaho and Washington will split the $355 million jackpot, the second-highest in the game's history. The estimated Mega Millions jackpot for Friday is $12 million.

Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services.
