Clemson to hold service for Wilhelm

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson will hold a public memorial service for late baseball coach Bill Wilhelm on Jan. 8.

The school announced the ceremony on Thursday. Wilhelm was 81 when he died this past Friday. He was coach of the Tigers from 1958 to 1993 and never had a losing season. His teams won 11 Atlantic Coast Conference titles and made six College World Series appearances.

The athletic department says the service will be open to the public and take place at 2 p.m. in Jervey Gym on campus.
