BOONE - A dog trapped in a motor home survived a 300+ foot plunge down a steep bank at Appalachian Ski Mountain on Tuesday morning.
Blowing Rock Fire & Rescue crews responded to the mountain at 11:00 a.m. after hearing reports that a motor home had plunged down a slope.
Upon arrival, crews saw that the RV had fallen 300 to 400 feet down the slope before coming to a rest at the end of a service road. Ski Patrol from the mountain quickly made it down the bank and discovered that a dog was the only inhabitant inside.
He was rescued unharmed. Wreckers spent four hours recovering the RV, which had been parked in the parking lot before rolling off of the bank.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident
