CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Five firefighter were hurt when a fire truck with the Charlotte Fire Department crashed into a tree in south Charlotte.
Emergency crews were called out to Shopton Road West near Westinghouse at the Calico Crossing shopping center, in the Steele Creek area, after the fire truck crashed into a tree around 8:55 a.m. Monday morning.
Captain Rob Brisley said that Engine 38 was responding to an emergency medical call when it crashed into the tree.
MEDIC stated one firefighter was transported to Presbyterian Hospital. Four others were transported to the hospital for observation and are expected to be okay.
Engine 38 is a fire truck with Fire Station 38, which serves along the Westinghouse Boulevard area. The station opened in 2008, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
