AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WIS) - An Aiken man is under arrest after authorities say he confessed to killing someone.

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, 23-year-old Gary Means walked into the Aiken County Sheriff's Office Monday night and told deputies he had killed someone at his home on Columbia Avenue near downtown Aiken.

Police responded to Means' home and discovered 20-year-old John Ankeny of Beech Island shot dead.

Carlton said preliminary findings show that Ankeny was shot multiple times with a small to medium weapon.

SLED Crime Scene along with the Coroner's Office and Aiken Department of Public Safety are investigating the death.

Means has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

An autopsy on Ankeny was scheduled for Tuesday morning in Newberry.
