COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Police are looking for a suspect they say shot and killed a man Monday.

Interim Police Chief Randy Scott said 23-year-old Charles Michael Ruff, aka "Fella," is wanted in the shooting death of Eric Vernard Wallace.

Wallace was shot and killed around 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Bethel Bishop Apartments on Ripplemeyer Avenue.

Investigators say Wallace was leaving the apartment parking lot in a Nissan Maxima when his vehicle was hit several times by gunfire. Wallace was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

Scott said the murder was not random, but the investigation is ongoing and encourages the community to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC with information on the whereabouts of Charles Michael Ruff.
