2 people killed in separate crashes in Lexington County

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -  Two men died in separate crashes overnight in Lexington County.

The first happened just after 11:00 Sunday night on Lewie Road near Horse Cove Road.  Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman says 26-year-old Jeb Attaway of Leesville, lost control of his pickup truck on a curve, hit several trees and rolled over.

Harman said Attaway was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

About 3 hours later, Troopers found a crashed car around 2:20 a.m. on Priceville Road near Bama Road.  Investigators say the car had overturned several times and the driver had been ejected.

Harman identified the driver as 22-year-old Samuel Berkheimer of Gilbert. Berkheimer died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Both wrecks are being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner's Office.
