USC's Garcia looks to future bowl game, not past

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The University of South Carolina's Gamecocks have their sights set on the Chick-Fil-A Bowl..

Stephen Garcia says he is ready to put his bowl woes behind him this season. It will be Garcia's third start in a bowl game, with the previous two not going so well

Last year, Garcia completed only 16 passes and threw an interception in the Gamecocks loss to UConn. The year before, he had an awful showing in his home town at the Outback Bowl.

He says he's ready to handle the game this year.

"I didn't really go into the game as prepared as I should have been," says Garcia, "That's completely my fault. I just kind of went back there. Tampa was my home, and I was just happy to be home. But this year I'm a lot more focused and a lot more mature than in the past two years."
