SC woman gets 3 years in stillborn death

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (AP) - A Bennettsville woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for the death of her stillborn son.

The Morning News of Florence reported that 29-year-old Quiana Morrison had been arrested Oct. 19 and was charged with illegal neglect of a child.

Police detective Deborah Young says Morrison had a Cesarean section on Oct. 17 at Marlboro Park Hospital and delivered a stillborn 27-week-old boy.

Young says Morrison tested positive for cocaine.

Prosecutor Mary Johnson Lee says it's unclear what role the drug use might have played in the boy's death.
