Trying to force a snow day? Vandals damage fire hydrants in Lancaster

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - Sheriff's deputies in Lancaster County are looking for vandals who damaged several fire hydrants and are also accused of stealing some of the parts.

The latest case of happened early Tuesday morning at an area around Foxbrook Circle. Authorities say they found water leaking into the road, which then turned to ice.

A sheriff's deputy noticed someone had opened the valve on the fire hydrant.

A resident in the area told the deputy that she saw a man standing next to the hydrant and he was holding a wrench.

When the man saw the woman, she says he got into a dark-colored vehicle and drove away.

Lancaster County deputies are also investigating similar fire hydrant vandalism cases from four other locations around the county where four, valve pressure caps were also stolen.
