South Carolinians brave the cold

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Old Man Winter is arriving early in South Carolina with all of us experiencing very cold temperatures.

Some people were braving the elements Monday night, but they says it's not the type of weather they're used to.

"It's doesn't feel like South Carolina," says one local resident, "It's cold."

"Way to windy out here," says another.

"Ice, it feels like ice," expresses one Midlands' woman, "Very cold."

"It's freezing, I know the wind is blowing and all that," claims another South Carolinian.

While others may be choosing to stay warm inside, there are three things everyone should do before they go to bed Monday night:

  • Experts recommend you let your sink drip ever so slightly to prevent them from freezing up.
  • Make sure your sprinklers are turned off because that water can freeze overnight and cause icy spots on the road.
  • It's also a good idea to have an emergency kit in the trunk of your car. If you end up stranded on the side of the road, you'll be thankful for the extra blanket, gloves, and a tow rope or cable.
