COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Columbia Police Department is welcoming two new members to its staff.

Interim Police Chief, Randy Scott, announced that Leslie Wiser Jr. has been hired as Assistant Chief/Chief of Staff. He is a 23 year veteran of the FBI and was recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina.

Scott says Ruben Santiago will fill the position of Deputy Chief of Operations. He has more than 13 years of experience in law enforcement and just completed a one-year tour in Afghanistan. While he was there, Scott says Santiago helped train executive level police officers in the Afghan National Police Department. He comes to the department from the Richland County Sheriff's Department where he was Commander of the Community Services Division.
