Remains of woman found in woods believed to be Hispanic

CALHOUN COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Investigators in Calhoun County are closer to identifying a body found in a wooded area more than two years ago.

After sending the remains to a forensics team in Tennessee, investigators believe they are those of a Hispanic woman.

She was found in a wooded area of northwest Calhoun County near Saint Matthews in September 2008.

The cause of death is not known, but authorities are treating the case as a homicide. Investigators are now putting up signs in the Hispanic community looking for help in identifying the woman.
