COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A company that serves major retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Sears and others is opening a distribution center in Berkeley County that will mean dozens of jobs.
The Department of Commerce and the State Ports Authority said Monday that Regal Logistics' new facility will create 30 full-time jobs and as many as 100 seasonal jobs.
The new warehouse is located in an existing building near Interstate 526 and the Port of Charleston's Wando Welch Terminal.
"Regal's expansion in Charleston is in direct response to manufacturers, importers and exporters' demand for an ideal east coast ship point to satisfy major retailers like Walmart," said Vice President Garry Neeves. "We're confident that Regal's facility will attract new business to the area in the form of manufacturers and importers shipping product through the Port of Charleston for distribution to major retailers in the East."
Regal Logistics will begin hiring next year, with average wages ranging from $11 to $18 an hour.
Regal Logistics' new distribution center in Berkeley County at 1980 Technology Road in a 351,000-square-foot existing building is open for business and designed for high-volume, quick-turnaround, retail-compliant shipping.
