Woman dies, Sumter Co. deputy hurt in car wreck

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A woman is dead after an accident involving a Sumter County sheriff's deputy Sunday morning.

The Sheriff's Office says Kedreana Felder died of her injuries Monday afternoon after being taken to Palmetto Richland Hospital.

The accident happened on Wedgefield Highway around 11:00am Sunday. Sheriff Anthony Dennis says the patrol car was traveling east on the Wedgefield Road and the other vehicle was traveling North on Pitts Road when both collided at the intersection.

Burris was taken to Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, where he was treated and released. He has served as a deputy for more than six years, and Sheriff Dennis says Burris was off-duty when the accident occurred.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
