Group buys bulletproof vest for Lexington police dog

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - It's a lifesaving device for our crime-fighting four-legged friends. Thanks to Elaine Henderson, the first bulletproof vest was fitted for a police dog in Lexington County.

Henderson started the heroes vest fund to raise money to buy vests for all of the deputy dogs in Lexington County, but she's not stopping there, Henderson wants to protect every single K-9 officer in the state.

"It's Christmas time, give the gift of life," she said. "Protect our K-9s."

Henderson says her group has raised enough money to buy another bulletproof vest. Each vest costs about $2,100.

She's selling calendars and accepting donations. If you want to help, click here.
