COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - It took two fire departments to put out an afternoon fire near St. Andrews Road Wednesday.

Fire crews from Irmo and Columbia were called to the home on Lockner Road after a person working across the street noticed smoke coming from the house. The unidentified worker called 911 and tried to put the fire out with a fire hose.

According to a representative from the Fire Marshal's Office, it appears the fire started in the area of the garage, went into the attic and spread throughout the house.

Nobody was home when the fire started.  Nobody was injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
