DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A driver and 22 passengers were taken to area hospitals after a Greyhound bus and log truck collided on Interstate 95 North near mile marker 83.
The accident is still under investigation, but it appears the bus rear-ended the log truck in the right lane, according to Cpl. Paul Brouthers with the SC Highway Patrol. The driver of the bus appears to have serious injuries and is being taken to MUSC, Brouthers said.
18 passengers were taken to Colleton Medical Center. Half were injured, the other nine were being checked out for possible injuries. The last four passengers were taken to Trident Medical Center.
The driver of the log truck is fine, according to Cpl. Brouthers. The accident happened about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Highway Patrol's accident management website.
The Northbound lanes of 95 have been shut down. A detour is set up at exit 82. Take it to US 15 then to I-26 West to get back on 95.
