Columbia firefighter injured battling house fire

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Columbia firefighter was injured Tuesday morning battling a house fire in the Hopkins community.

Chief Aubrey Jenkins with the Columbia Fire Department said the fire displaced four people and destroyed the home on Lower Richland Blvd.  He added that the firefighter was transported to the hospital but his injures are not believed to be life threatening.

The fire caused about $80,000 in damages. Jenkins says they don't have a cause right now but the Richland County Fire Marshall's office is investigating.  We'll have more on this story as it becomes available.
