Deputies: Man threw drugs out window during two county chase

RICHLAND COUNTY SC (WIS) - Richland County Deputies have arrested a Lexington County man they say lead them on a vehicle pursuit through two counties.

Officers tried to stop 24-year-old Jaris Johns after they say he was observed during a drug surveillance operation making what they think was a possible drug transaction.

Around 7:45 Wednesday night deputies attempted to stop the vehicle Johns was trying driving on Millwood Avenue in Columbia when the chase started.

Deputies say that they observed Johns throwing drugs from his vehicle during the chase.

Officers say they recovered those drugs along with additional drugs inside the car once the chase came to an end on Old Wire Road in Lexington County.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Johns will be charged with possession with the intent to distribute.

No one was injured during the pursuit and no damages were reported.
