School board race ends in tie, runoff scheduled

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The race for a Kershaw County School Board seat ended in a tie and a runoff election has been scheduled.

David Herndon and Nissary Wood each received 976 votes in the race for school board district 2 in the General Election on November 2. There was one vote cast for a write-in candidate. 

A recount verified the final vote totals and triggered a runoff election scheduled for November 16. The special election is for voters in school district 2 only.        

The following precincts will be open November 16 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:    

           Doby's Mill  -      Doby's Mill Elementary School  (split precinct)
           Elgin #1 -          Blaney Baptist Church (100% school district 02)
           Elgin #2 -          Blaney Elementary School (split precinct)
           Elgin #3 -          Elgin Town Hall (split precinct)
           Elgin #4 -          Leslie Stover Elementary School (split precinct)
           Elgin #5 -          Harmony Baptist Church (split precinct)

Absentee voting is open at the Voter Registration Office, 609 Lafayette Ave, Camden Monday–Friday, 8:30–5:00 p.m. through Monday, Nov 15.
