COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Three armed robbery suspects are on the loose near a residential neighborhood in Richland County, according to Columbia police who say the suspects may have shot at pursuing officers.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Brick Lewis said the men tried to rob someone on Marling Drive in Columbia around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Lewis said officers responded and immediately spotted the suspects' car.

Officers tried to pull the car over, but Lewis said the men took off. At some point the suspects fired gunshots, Lewis said it's not clear if those shots were fired at the officers.

Lewis said the suspects led officers on a chase that ended in the Green Lake subdivision off Leesburg Road, which is near Fort Jackson. Lewis said the men jumped out of their car during the police pursuit and ran away.

Columbia officers and Richland County deputies are looking for the men with police dogs. So far no description of the suspects has been provided.
