Gamecocks 2 difficult wins from SEC title game

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's path to its first
Southeastern Conference title game couldn't be much clearer - or
more difficult.
Should the Gamecocks (6-2, 4-2 SEC) beat No. 17 Arkansas and
Florida the next two weeks, they would represent the SEC Eastern
Division at the Georgia Dome. Of course, that would mean South
Carolina defeating the league's top passer in the Razorbacks Ryan
Mallett and winning at Florida, something it has never done.
The 18th-ranked Gamecocks are the SEC East's only two-loss team.
Their first chance to clinch comes Saturday. A victory over the
Razorbacks coupled with a Florida loss at Vanderbilt next week
would wrap up the division for South Carolina.
"We know exactly what's out there," Spurrier said. "One of goals was to win our home games this year and (Arkansas) is one of them. We beat Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee all this year.I'm sure that's never happened in school history.  Three teams of that tradition."
A Gators win or Gamecocks loss sets up a showdown at The Swamp
on Nov. 13.
