Dig it: Smithsonian scientists bring fossils to SC

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Scientists from the Smithsonian
Institution in Washington are bringing fossils from around the
world to South Carolina.
      The 27th Annual South Carolina Fossil Fair is scheduled for
Saturday at the Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach.
      The free event is sponsored by the South Carolina Fossil
Association. Scientists are on hand to identify fossils brought in
by guests, and there are also shell and fossil collections on
display.
      Guests will also learn about digging for fossils in a mock dig
site.

    A 64-year-old man, who had been reported missing by employees at his Blythewood business, was murdered by a Michigan man who was high on drugs at the time of the alleged killing, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a press conference Thursday.
