Women wanted for running over man's foot with SUV

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff says three young women used an SUV to run over a man's foot last month. Deputies released surveillance footage of the SUV on Wednesday, hoping someone can identify the occupants.

Sheriff Leon Lott said the man was standing in the parking lot of the BP Gas Station on Two Notch Road on September 18. Lott said the man was talking on his cell phone when a dark SUV carrying three women pulled up.

The woman in the back seat asked the man if she could use his phone to call a family member, and the man agreed. Lott said that the man "began exchanging pleasantries" with the two women in the front of the SUV, when the driver suddenly put the vehicle in reverse, running over the victim's foot and knocking him to the ground. Lott said the driver fled the scene with the victim's cell phone, and the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects were described as being in their late teens to early twenties. Lott said the SUV is believed to be a Kia Sportage, possibly dark blue with white lettering on the rear window -- believed to be advertising a business. The vehicle also had a different rim on the right rear tire, which may have been a spare tire.

Lott said the women will be charged with assault and battery, and he asked anyone who has information about the incident or knows the identity or the whereabouts of the suspects to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
