Deputies bust gang with guns, drugs after citizen tip

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Richland County deputies say they arrested three gang members on Tuesday who were caught with drugs and guns at a Columbia house.

Sheriff Leon Lott said deputies arrested Calvin Rucker, 26, Demetrius Guinyart, 22, and Lequan Hamilton, 19 around 1:00pm at a house on King Street.

Lott said deputies received a Crimestoppers tip that gang members were frequenting and drugs were being sold at the house. The tipster also said guns were prevalent inside and around the home.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and arrested Rucker, Guinyart and Hamilton Tuesday afternoon, recovering three handguns. Rucker was wanted for three counts of attempted murder, Guinyart was charged with one count of unlawful carrying of a pistol and one count of carrying a pistol with an obliterated serial number;  and  Hamilton was charged with two counts of unlawful carrying of a pistol and one count of being in possession of a stolen pistol.

Lott said all three suspects were arrested without incident and will be taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
