MONROE, NC (WBTV) - When it comes to stature, there's just not that much to her. Jade Montgomery stand 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs just enough to not blow away.

But on the football field, her size isn't the issue. For the opposing team, they're usually more concerned with blocking her un-blockable kicks.

"I was like, 'Are you kidding me?" said Jade of the time when Piedmont High School's head coach Frank Ambrose approached her and asked her to kick. Jade said no. She said absolutely not. It might have been the stubborn teen in her, or perhaps it was the fierce competitive nature, but something made her change her mind.

Jade now stands with a 31 out of 32 good extra points kicked. Jade now stands a lot taller knowing and showing that a "girl" can do anything a guy can do, "Sometimes even better," she says.

While Jade is now revered by her team mates in every game, the homecoming game was extra special. Her classmates voted the star female kicker on the football team, the homecoming queen.

Escorted by her brother and also former kicker for Piedmont High, Jade strolled across the field to collect her crown. She was still wearing her full uniform except for the helmet.
