COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A mother was gunned down inside her home, in front of her son. Investigators say Tisha Cason, was trying to get away from her estranged husband, Charlie Cason, when Cason killed her. Now Tisha's 18-year old son is opening up about losing his mother.

"I just want everything to be at peace," said Jonathan Watts, Cason's son. "My family, his family, no hatred. I just want everything to be peaceful."

It's the one request Watts has for the two families ripped apart by his mother's death. Jonathan was there Wednesday morning as investigators say his stepfather used a gun to kill his mother inside her northeast Columbia home.
Jonathan wouldn't talk about the details of what happened, but opened up about his mother as his father and mother's best friend sat by to support him. "She never did no harm to nobody," Watts described. "She would bend over backward for you. She'll take her shirt off her back and give it to you."

Jonathan didn't want to talk about the troubles in the marriage between his mother and stepfather, but court records show Tisha spent her final days trying to get the court to protect her from her estranged husband. Nine days ago a judge denied Tisha's request for an emergency hearing, and two days ago, another judge said no to a protective order against Charlie Cason.

"I got on this camera tonight to let everybody know that this is nothing that you would want to go through," Watts said. "This is a painful thing, and if you're going through it, get out of it because it could lead to things like this."

Jonathan says he's leaning on family, friends, and prayer to figure out how to carry on. "I don't ask nobody to take my mama's place because they never will," he said. "But I ask for them to help me, because at this point, I'm going to need a lot of help."

The visitation for Tisha Cason is set for Friday night in Ridgeway. Her funeral is set for Saturday in Winnsboro. Charlie Cason is behind bars, charged with murder.
