Leggett: Clemson's CWS end doesn't diminish season

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Clemson coach Jack Leggett won't let anyone diminish his team's achievements this season, no matter how disappointing the end was at the College World Series.

Leggett spoke Wednesday about the Tigers' recently completed season, where they lost twice in a row to rival South Carolina in Omaha, Nebraska last month. The Gamecocks went on to take the College World Series title.

It's the second time this decade Leggett's team was knocked out of the CWS by their Palmetto State rivals. The other came in 2002.

Leggett says this year's Tigers overcame their youth and some bumps in the road to get hot when it counted most. They swept Florida State late to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division, won an NCAA regional at Auburn and a super regional against Alabama to reach Rosenblatt Stadium.
