WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Charlotte man is wanted for forging a check and cashing it in West Columbia, and police there are asking for help finding him.

West Columbia Police Chief Dennis Tyndall said a warrant has been issued for Michael Anthony Jenkins, 51, charging him with forgery.

Chief Tyndall said Jenkins stole a check out of a mailbox and altered the check to make himself the payee. Police say Jenkins then took the check for $917 to the First Community Bank in West Columbia on May 26 and cashed it.

Tyndall said while Jenkins has a North Carolina address, he might still be in the Columbia area. If you know where he is, call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
