House fire on Lake Murray causes over a quarter million in damage

LAKE MURRAY, SC (WIS) - An early-morning house fire near Lake Murray caused over a quarter million dollars in damage, according to Lexington County fire officials.

Battalion Chief Chad Wessinger said firefighters got a 911 call about the fire around 1:44am Sunday from a couple of men fishing on the lake.

Firefighters arrived at the house on Mooring Lane within five minutes and found a large two-story house and a storage building on fire.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, and the home sustaining heavy damage estimated at $260,000. No injuries have been reported.

Wessinger said the fire appears to be accidental in nature, but is still under investigation.
