COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The woman severely hurt in a car wreck involving Mayor-elect Steve Benjamin is out of the hospital.
Deborah Rubens is recovering at home. Her lawyer, Rick Detwiler, says Rubens is continuing to get better and is getting around a little bit with a walker. He also says she and her family are grateful for the community's support, prayers and concern.
Benjamin's SUV collided with Rubens' car near Gervais and Pickens Streets in downtown Columbia around 5:40am April 21.
Benjamin was cited for not having his headlights on. Rubens was issued a citation for driving without insurance.
Doctors released Rubens June 4, the same day Columbia Police released its report on the investigation.
