LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Lexington County Fire Service investigators are looking into what may have caused a house fire on Shull Island Sunday night.

Fire crews arrived to a vacation home on Shull Island around 9:15pm Sunday to find the structure heavily involved.  The intense fire lit up the Lake Murray waters.

It took 25 firefighters from four Lexington County Stations one hour to bring the fire under control. One firefighter was transported to Lexington Medical Center for a heat related illness.

There was no one at home at the time of the fire. The property owners arrived on scene a short time later and confirmed all family members were safe and accounted for.

High winds blowing off the lake from a passing thunderstorm contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and Lexington County EMS provided assistance during this incident.

At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation, however the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
