Inmate walks away from work assignment in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS/AP) - Police are looking for a South Carolina prison inmate who walked away from a work assignment in Columbia.

The Corrections Department said 26-year-old David Thurman Holmes was reported missing from Deno's Restaurant on St. Andrews Road late Monday afternoon.

Holmes stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs about 165 pounds, has brown eyes and brown hair.  He was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt and blue jeans.

Holmes was assigned to the Campbell Pre-Release Center in Columbia.

He was serving a six-year sentence for burglary from Lexington County and had been in the prison system since last April.
