IRMO, SC (WIS) - Authorities are investigating three burned vehicles at an Irmo apartment complex.
Around 6:00am Monday, the Irmo Fire District was notified of a vehicle on fire in the Stoney Creek Apartment complex. When fire units arrived, they found at least two vehicles on fire in the parking lot several yards from each other.
Witnesses told fire personnel that a third automobile a few parking spots from the others had also been set on fire.
Witnesses say that around 5:15am, they heard noises that indicated at least one of the vehicles was on fire.
These vehicles and this parking lot are situated immediately on the frontage road nearest the on ramp from St. Andrews Road onto I-26, east bound towards Columbia.
In the case of two of the vehicles involved, stereo equipment had been removed prior to the person or persons setting the fires.
Dollar loss amounts have yet to be determined, however two vehicles are a total loss, a third is badly damaged and one other SUV and the apartment building suffered damage due to radiant heat from these fires.
The Irmo Fire Marshal is investigating.
