BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, SC (WIS) - A Batesburg-Leesville town councilman was kicked out of a council meeting by the mayor after calling the police.

Councilman Steve Cain says he simply had some questions during Monday's council meeting. The questions surrounded a longstanding dispute between Cain and Mayor Jim Wiszowaty over a city water contract.

"The mayor decided he wanted to evoke a unused or rarely used rule," said Cain. That rule only allows two questions, and Cain had reached his limit.

"It's funny that y'all know the rules when y'all want to cut off debate," Cain said during the meeting. "My question is very simple, why all of sudden are we implementing this rule when I have a lot of questions."

"If you do not adhere to the chair, I'll have you removed," responded Wiszowaty.

"I'm not leaving," responded Cain, telling Wiszowaty "You are the biggest crook" before police began to escort him out.

The situation quickly got worse from there, with Cain accusing Wiszowaty of doing cocaine.

"Where are you when [Wiszowaty] is in the back of his restaurant drinking so much beer?" Cain asked the officers escorting him out. "How does he get home if he's not drunk? All the cocaine and alcohol."

Cain wants Mayor Wiszowaty to take a drug test. "So if I take a drug test and it's clear, will he resign?" responded Wiszowaty.

Cain said he would resign if the mayor takes a full physical and a doctor says Wiszowaty has never used cocaine.
