GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina congressman says a new federal complex planned for Greenville will cost around $70 million.
Rep. Bob Inglis, R-S.C., told The Greenville News for a story published Monday that the project will cost much less than the more than $130 million that had been estimated.
The complex that will have more courtroom space and consolidate several federal agencies into one building across from the county courthouse has been in the works since 2001. In 2007, officials said projected costs had more than doubled because of delays.
The General Services Administration oversees construction of federal courthouses. Officials say the design process is expected to begin this fall, with construction getting under way in 2013.
