Talk about a beer run!

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI (NBC) - Sanitation workers could be charged soon for stealing nearly 60 cases of beer from the Columbia landfill.

On April 1, Scheppers Distributing Company tossed 1,500 cases of beer into the landfill from two shipments.

Public works destroyed the contents of the first shipment but failed to destroy the contents of the second.

Two workers, still unnamed by police, used a sanitation truck and transported the remaining beer off the site.

Columbia police are investigating to determine what charges would be given to the two city employees.

Human Resources officials say three violations were made, including loitering on site, having alcohol on site and using city vehicles for non work-related activities.

One of the workers involved in the incident resigned on Monday.
