Suspect wanted in armed robbery attempt outside cash advance store

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Surveillance video captured a suspect walking coldly away from an armed robbery attempt outside a cash advance store in Columbia, deputies say.

According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the man approached a woman with a knife outside a Express Check Advance demanding that she give him money.

Officials say the woman told the suspect she did not have access to money, but he ordered her to conduct her normal routine until the employee that did have access to the money arrived.

However, deputies say, the victim was able to get away from the suspect and locked herself into a bathroom where she then called 911.

The suspect has been described as a 6 foot tall male weighing 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood, blue jeans, and mask over the lower half of his face.
