YORK COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The York County coroner is trying to figure out what killed a man who was in custody at the county's detention center.
The York County Sheriff's Office says 57-year-old Jacob Lee Strong was being housed in the detention center's medical unit when he became unresponsive. A guard who was passing through stopped to deliver CPR and until EMS arrived.
EMS was unable to revive Strong, and he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.
Officials say Strong was being housed in the unit due to previous medical issues when he passed away.
The coroner's office has scheduled an autopsy for Strong.
